"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -- Theodore Roosevelt

Obama Claims his Administration's Success Depends on (Certain) Minority Voters

Ah yes, the great healer of America's racial divides has begun to drive all Americans apart once more. Separate and destroy... divide and conquer. It's all in a day's work for race obsessed political strategists.

According to the Washington Post article by Philip Rucker (h/t Steve Bartin @ Newsalert-- also video of Obama address at Newsalert post) our Divider-in-Chief had this to say about mid-term elections:

"In the video message to his supporters, Obama said his administration's success depends on the outcome of this fall's elections and warned that if Republicans regain control of Congress, they could 'undo all that we have accomplished.'

"'This year, the stakes are higher than ever,' he said, according to a transcript of his remarks provided by Democratic officials. 'It will be up to each of you to make sure that young people, African Americans, Latinos and women who powered our victory in 2008 stand together once again.'"

Real cute there. The mean, old, white males of the Republicans are out to repeal a tremendously unpopular bill forcing Americans to buy medical insurance (a law that conforms to the economic definition of Fascism) and bring back economic sanity to government, and it's up to to "young people, African Americans, Latinos and women" to save the day. Sarah Palin, Thomas Sowell, and Cubans need not apply I suppose... Besides they're not really a woman, a Black American, and Latinos anyway, right?

What's so interesting to me is the way that Obama so casually divides up America in a public address. I mean, divisiveness has been a point of pride for modern Black American leftists since the '60s and before (any search on the speeches and writings of Ron Karenga [the torturer of women and inventor of Kwanzaa], Reverand Wright [Obama's spiritual mentor until people began to listen to Wright's sermons], Van Jones, Frances Cress Welsing [author of The Isis Papers],etc. will reveal the separatist mentality of this part of the Left), but having a president so wedded to racial division that he openly calls for it to further/save his political agenda is a bit of a novelty for my generation.

Obama's vision of America seems to consist of young people, African Americans, Latinos and women battling old white men (clinging to guns and religion, no doubt) for the furtherance of Leftist ideals. Some Hope and Change, huh?

  1. Yep, it's all about filing people away into neat little categories and then keeping them there economically, socially, culturally. It's sick. It's also amazing to me that the left is happy to have a label plastered on their forehead and shuffle off obediently to vote as told, think and speak as mandated.

Geez, literary structuralism didn't work, how is it supposed to work writ large? Oh, wait, it does work because people, unlike texts, willingly conform to their prescribed categories.

  2. Welcome back!

It's the Left's classification fetish. The anti-racism, anti-sexism, anti-homophobia ideology has to cut people up into groups of blacks, Latinos, Asians and whites because it would be harder to hand out favors or punish based on race if they went by the more accurate ethnic or national descriptor, especially with white people. 100 years ago people were Irish, Italian, Polish, German, French and so on, today they're just "white", and therefore part of "white privelege", a racist idea born out of the lack of any intelligent response to the fact "whites", like it or not, are the majority in America. And that's just race. The destruction of traditional gender roles, gender classification, gender "choice" and so on are another way to carve up individuals into little cliques for the easy application of victimhood, like we see with Maine HRC's decision to call sex distinctions discriminatory.

I wrote about this very thing a few weeks ago: http://generationpatriot.blogspot.com/2010/04/fabulous-art-of-victimhood.html

    Again, welcome back Yukio!

  3. Thanks Jordan. It's good to be back. Still going to be kinda slow for the next week or so, I think.

I'll check out the post you wrote.

  4. Yukio, glad you are feeling a bit better.

Obama's racial division strikes me not only as a clarion call to his early support groups to follow him, but also as an alert to members of these groups to cease and desist contemplating going AWOL from the ranks of the Obamatons. Many former Obama enthusiasts must be more than ready to jump ship by now, and it's not pleasant to contemplate what amusements will be being served up in the circus arena in the next few months to keep their attention.

  5. Possibly correct Quite Rightly. I hadn't thought about Obama's comments from that perspective. I wonder if he is capable of worrying about people jumping ship. Obama strikes me as someone possessing an enormous ego, firmly convinced of knowing the "truth." Such people can live in denial for their entire lives despite the events of the world. I could be mean here and use my mother-in-law as an example (I love her, but you endure, ignore, and forgive a lot with her) but I won't go into specifics.

Obama will not have to worry about too many Black Americans jumping ship. That is the most reliably Democratic block of any Americans, and there are crushing pressures within the Black community to conform to their leaders' will-- otherwise you're an "oreo," Uncle Tom, etc.

Women and Latinos are another case entirely. I always find it kinda amusing for Latinos and women to be lumped together as a single "minority" group. I mean women make up what, around 50% of the population? Not really much of a minority. And while the Left has done much to portray non-Left women as vapid, ignorant, "stand-by-your-man," types suffering from Stockholm Syndrome, the truth is readily apparent to those who bother to look. I think Obama could very well be losing a large portion of female voters as they are part of America waking up to what our Divider-in-Chief represents. Making this sort of play for them (if that is what Obama is doing) is half-assed and desperate.

Latinos are hardly a single unified group. True, most Hispanics in the US are Mexican, but Guatemalans, El Salvadorans, Nicaraguans, Puerto Ricans, Colombians, and other Caribbean, South and Central American nationalities make up the "Latino" group. Culturally, ethnically, linguistically, and politically, this handy "group" is extremely diverse and full of internal disputes that most Americans are completely ignorant of. Once again, I think most are simply wising up to Obama/Pelosi's ill-conceived and non-self-sustaining vision of America.
