"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -- Theodore Roosevelt

Pew Poll: 47% Oppose Health Care Reform 34% Favor

Check out this poll conducted by the Pew Research Center (h/t Instapundit).

The question:

"As of right now, do you generally favor or generally oppose the health care proposals being discussed in Congress?"

Answer: 34% Favor, 47% Oppose

An interesting side note, the Party ID percentages of those polled: 34% Democrat, 23% Republican, 37% independent.

So a poll conducted with 11% more Democrats than Republicans resulted in a +13% in favor of those who "oppose the health care proposals being discussed in Congress."

Also interesting, while keeping Party ID percentages in mind, are these results for the state of the country: 25% Satisfied, 67% Dissatisfied.

I hope the collective members of Congress are seeing these numbers and keep them in mind as they run their sleazy, closed door health reforms.

  1. The Pew Charitable Trusts entire raison d'ĂȘtre is big-time social engineering without pain-in-the neck input from the "rubes." When you look at what they've supported with their huge grants, you see the roots of a lot of the anguish our country is experiencing. Today's snap shot: the poor of Detroit standing in lines 30,000 deep hoping for a handout from their hero, Obama.

Thanks for this post and the link to Heritage.
