"Happy Halloween all!!" says Demon Cat.

"Restoring Sanity" Apparently has Something to Do with Painting Hitler Mustaches and Wishing Death on Conservatives

HillBuzz Unmasks Modern Leftist Democrats

Wow!

Kevin DuJan of Hillbuzz.org really went for it in "An Open Letter to Rush Limbaugh and His Listeners — With Notes on the Democrat Civil War Already In Progress" (h/t to Fuzzy at Fuzzy Logic for pointing out this post). Check it out.

From DuJan's post:

"None of this is being reported in the media, but a Civil War in the Democrat ranks has been raging since May 31st, 2008…a date every Hillary Clinton supporter knows well, because that was the date of the Democrat Rules & Bylaws Committee Meeting where Howard Dean (then-DNC Chair), Donna Brazile, and scores of other Kool-Aid slurping Obama flunkies took off their masks and revealed the full extent of the Leftist coup that had taken over the party. This was the day when the DNC took delegates Hillary Clinton won in Michigan away from her and handed them to Obama (despite the fact he wasn’t even on the primary ballot in that state, because he removed his name when his campaign realized he’d come in third in that race).

"May 31st, 2008 was a day when Hillary 'babes' (as you call us sometimes) like us flew to Washington in large numbers to stand outside the Marriott near the National Zoo, where this Rules & Bylaws Committee Meeting was held, to shout for the DNC to count all the votes and operate the nominating process fairly — but they refused. The anger over that day has never abated. In fact, it’s grown considerably since then.

"This was the determining factor in millions of us leaving the Democrat Party for good. This was the day when the P.U.M.A. movement began — in response to Donna Brazile’s calls for 'party unity' following the Rules & Bylaws Committee Meeting, we 'Hillary babes' said 'Party Unity My A$$' (or People United Means Action, depending on how you want to phrase it). Exit polls showed 8 million PUMA voted Republican for the first time in our lives in the fall of 2008…casting ballots for McCain/Palin (and in truth, mainly for Palin, whom we support, and not to a small degree because she receives many of the same attacks lobbed at Hillary Clinton all these years).

[...]

"This is also when most of us stopped using the term 'Democratic Party', since there’s nothing “democratic” about these people. They are the 'Democrat Party', and even that is hard to acknowledge because they really and truly have proved themselves to be enemies of real democracy.

"I’m still registered as a Democrat here in Chicago (because the Cocktail Party GOP establishment so disgusts me I can’t will myself to party-ID Republican, and there’s no Independent option here in Illinois) but I can’t imagine ever voting for another Democrat again, as long as I live. To Hell with Democrats. This was solidified for me on Christmas Eve of last year, when Democrats rushed Obamacare through the Senate in the dead of night, through various secret channels, and every single Democrat voted for its passage (even supposed moderates like Evan Bayh in Indiana, who quickly realized his vote would cost him re-election…so the coward retired rather then face angry voters over what he did). I just don’t believe Democrats should be given elected office by voters because they cannot be trusted to even read bills before they vote on them, not even when said bills seek to permanently alter the entire American economy. This is reckless and reprehensible to the point of treason.

"I was a Democrat for 32 years before the heavy-handed push for Obama alienated me from the party…and I borrow what Hillary Clinton said about Republicans once, back when she was a Goldwater Girl, and will paraphrase by saying that I didn’t leave the Democrat Party, the Democrat Party left me.

"After it beat me to a pulp, called me a racist, berated and insulted me, and used Alinsky Rules to hit me with everything it had. Not just me, but all Hillary supporters.

[...]

"The media has never talked about this. I don’t remember ever hearing you talk about it. But one of the biggest reasons the Democrats are in the trouble they’re in right now is because of how frequently the Left and the media (one and the same, really) called anyone who opposed Obama a RAAACIST. If you supported Hillary Clinton in the primaries instead of Obama, you were called a RAAACIST. If you were someone like me who fundraised for Hillary, who hosted events for her, who put yourself out there and wrote columns advocating her or did media spots talking up her candidacy, you were aggressively targeted by the Obama campaign and his supporters…relentlessly attacked as a RAAACIST! and assaulted with the Alinksy Rules for Radicals in hopes of breaking your spirit, terrorizing you, and making you abandon Clinton for fear of having these people destroy your life, ruin your business, and make you an absolute pariah in your community.

"This is what the Obama campaign, the media, and the DNC did to DEMOCRATS.

"For almost a year, the Obama zealots and the Left waged all-out-war not just on Hillary Clinton, but on lifelong, loyal, dyed-in-the-wool Democrat voters like me. This came straight from the top, from Obama himself. Both he and his wife Michelle called the Clintons racists. Obama’s surrogates like James Clyburne, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, John Lewis, and others called Geraldine Ferraro, Madeline Albright, and others racists. The Obamas toxified the South Carolina primary, in particular, with foul race-baiting and turned North Carolina and Indiana into racial powder kegs by ramping up accusations that anyone not supporting Obama was a vile racist that needed to be pounded into the ground.

[...]

"This is similar to the grief that I’ve received here in Chicago for being a gay Hillary former Democrat in Boystown who never drank any Kool-Aid, never stopped speaking out against Obama, and who recently fully came out as a conservative — in the face of the same kind of Alinsky-grade, identity-based, 'traitor' hectoring that Tubbs Jones got for being a black woman who didn’t kneel before the Obama altar.

[...]

"Those of us who worked Democrat campaigns in the past put up with union associations and the other unsavory aspects of being a Democrat because we were told this was the only way Democrats could win…with union muscle. But, in 2008 the Democrats revealed themselves to be an SD6 [from the TV show Alias] conglomeration of every force in this country that wants to bring America down, tank our economy, usurp our Constitution, and lay waste to the American way of life.

"Democrats took off the mask. The DNC reveled in being fully Leftist-controlled. Crazy people unapologetic in their Communist admiration took over positions of great influence not just in the DNC, but in our state and federal governments as well.

"I’m horrified by that.

"Hillary supporters are horrified by that.

"And we have not sat back quietly to allow this to happen without a fight."

Again, I highly suggest reading the whole piece. It is very interesting.

Schisms have been growing in the Democratic Party since the late 1970s (although their roots are in the late 60s). If DuJan is accurate, perhaps things are far worse than I thought in the rank and file of the Dems. If more non-Leftist Dems refuse to be "Obamafied" this could cause a severe, and long overdue, readjustment within the Democratic Party and pull it back to the center-Left (and reality).

It's also interesting to note the similarities with DuJan's experiences with the Dem Left and those of Black Conservatives and conservative women with the Dem Left-- which I wrote about in my post "Jeneane Garofalo and the Left Reinvent 16th Century Tyranny."

Powerful Argentine Ex-President (and Likely Future President) Nestor Kirchner Dies

"Former Argentine President Nestor Kirchner, the current president's husband and a leading contender to succeed her in next year's election, died from a heart attack on Wednesday.

"Kirchner, 60, was credited by many Argentines with putting South America's No. 2 economy back on its feet after a devastating 2001/02 economic crisis, but critics reviled his combative style and interventionist economic policies.

"Argentine bond and stock prices rose on news of the death of the center-leftist, who kept a firm hold on the reins of power even after his wife Cristina Fernandez was elected to succeed him in 2007.

[...]

"His death raises uncertainty about the government's strategy for next year's election, and might encourage Fernandez to seek a second consecutive term.

"Kirchner was still a popular leader when he left the presidency but his approval ratings have since fallen sharply and his wife has emerged as the more popular of the two.

[...]

"Critics branded Kirchner's tough political style and strongly worded attacks on big business, journalists and political rivals as authoritarian.

"When farmers rebelled over a tax hike on soy exports in 2008, he accused them of plotting a coup and told supporters to boycott companies that hiked prices. He increased state control over the economy and nationalized several companies.

"Kirchner focused on cementing political alliances at home to shore up his administration and that of his wife, but he was secretary general of South America's regional grouping Unasur and had close links with fellow Latin American leftists such as Venezuela's Hugo Chavez, who called his death 'a huge loss.'

[...]

"Kirchner also won praise for his efforts to bring military leaders to trial for human rights crimes committed during the nation's 1976-1983 dictatorship, in which as many as 30,000 people were killed in a crackdown on leftist dissent.

"When his wife succeeded him, many commentators compared the power couple to another husband-and-wife political dynasty to dominate Argentine politics -- former President Gen. Juan Domingo Peron and his famous wife Evita.

[...]

"Investors disliked Kirchner's unorthodox economic policies, such as price controls and export freezes to curb inflation. Those policies have largely continued during his wife's administration, and Argentine financial assets abroad rallied on news of his death."

This is a very interesting development in Argentina. It will be interesting to watch Argentinean politics for the next couple of years after the upcoming election. This could potentially result in a quite shift in Argentina's politics. Certainly there will at least be a shake up/jockeying within his Peronist Justicialist Party.

Politico: Dems Raised $270 Million More than GOP and Conservative 3rd Party Groups

Wait. But I thought the Republican were buying this election, with foreign money no less.

From the Politico article "Dems getting outspent? Not so fast" by Jeanne Cummings:

"To hear top Democrats tell it, the party is being wildly outgunned this year in the fight for campaign cash as Republicans rely on outside groups to funnel money to GOP contenders.

"But the numbers tell a different story.

"It’s true that conservative third-party groups are outspending their Democratic rivals. But the Democrats still have a sizable cash advantage in their party committees – making this year’s elections a lot more of a fair fight than Vice President Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi let on.

"So far, the latest figures show that the Democratic Party machinery has outraised its Republican counterpart in this campaign cycle by almost $270 million.

[...]

"The money race totals come to $856 million for the Democratic committees and their aligned outside groups, compared to $677 for their Republican adversaries, based on figures compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics.

"Included in that total: conservative groups have spent $169 million on ads attacking Democratic House and Senate candidates, compared to $80 million by liberal-leaning groups, based on figures as of Tuesday morning [emphasis mine]."

No, no, no! It's the deep pockets of the rich Republicans and their mysterious foreign money that's stealing this election. Really... I totally mean it. Right?

Obama in Rhode Island: Republicans "Gotta Sit in Back" and Other Fun

A calm, cool, collected, intellectual, post-racial Obama rolled out some of his most uplifting rhetoric in Rhode Island today.

"He [Obama] said Republicans had driven the economy into a ditch and then stood by and criticized while Democrats pulled it out. Now that progress has been made, he said, 'we can't have special interests sitting shotgun. We gotta have middle class families up in front. We don't mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back.'"

Oh yeah! More blaming Bush. More of Obama's "I-had-to-spend-trillions-and-impose-economically-fascist, nationally-regulated-health-care-to-save-America-and-you-just-don't-appreciate-it" line. Every American just can't get enough of that...

But yes, let's all play follow the dear leader... You know the leader who was "ready to rule" from his election, who believes that we're all gun and religion clinging bigots when we're out of work, and that we're terrified children incapable of thinking straight logically when we're "scared" about the economy.

Obama didn't seem to be warmly greeted in Rhode Island by Democratic gubernatorial candidate Frank Caprio. Obama has refused to endorse Caprio. Caprio responded by saying "He [Obama] can take his endorsement and really shove it as far as I'm concerned." Hmm. Caprio must be racist.

Regarding this trip Caprio said "We had one of the worst floods in the history of the United States a few months back and President Obama didn't even do a flyover of Rhode Island," Caprio said, according to WPRO. "He ignored us and now he's coming into Rhode Island and treating us like an ATM machine."

Fun stuff. I wish this election wasn't so important. I would love to just sit back and just laugh at this overheated rhetoric and idiocy.

"Just Words" and Too Late Besides: AP Reports Obama Will Focus on Deficit

The AP is now reporting that Obama is bracing for a Republican takeover in Congress and will focus on deficit (a little late for that buddy-- after a $3 trillion spending spree). Can blaming newly-elected Republicans for economic woes be too far behind?

"Preparing for political life after a bruising election, President Barack Obama will put greater emphasis on fiscal discipline, a nod to a nation sick of spending and to a Congress poised to become more Republican, conservative and determined to stop him.

"He is already giving clues about how he will govern in the last two years of his term.

"Obama will try to make gains on deficit reduction, education and energy. He will enforce his health care and financial overhauls and try to protect them from repeal should Republicans win control of Capitol Hill. He will use executive authority when blocked by Congress, and steel for scrutiny and investigations if the GOP is in charge.

[...]

"Moving to the fore will be a more serious focus on how to balance the federal budget and pay for the programs that keep sinking the country into debt."

Hmm. "Programs that keep sinking this country into debt"?-- maybe like the unpopular, economically fascist, $1 trillion ObamaCare for instance... Oh, no. That was a "health care overhaul" that he's going to protect it. I remember Obama saying "Go for it" back in March when there was talk of repealing ObamaCare.

From the March 25th AP article by Darlene Superville that I quoted from (link down and no longer available):

"President Barack Obama dared Republicans to try to repeal his new health care law, telling them Thursday to 'Go for it' and see how well they do with voters in November.

"'Be my guest,' Obama said in the first of many planned appearances to sell the revamp before fall congressional elections. 'If they want to have that fight, we can have it. Because I don't believe the American people are going to put the insurance industry back in the driver's seat.'"

Well, it's November and Obama doesn't seem quite so cavalier and confident now, does he?

More from Ben Feller's recent article:

"The president has signaled that at the start of the new year, he will speak more directly to the country about the financial choices ahead. 'If we're going to get serious about the deficit, then we're going to have to look at everything: entitlements, defense spending, revenues. ... And that's going to be a tough conversation,' he said."

Because we all didn't get enough of Obama while he was campaigning for "stimulus" pay outs, ObamaCare, and claiming he couldn't "dive down there and plug the hole [the Gulf Oil Spill]" nor "suck it up with a straw," etc. We all need more of Obama condescendingly explaining that our common sense is actually illiterate nonsense.

Of course isn't this strategy essentially doomed to failure by Obama's own voiced convictions? Did Obama not just say that (quoting from Charles Krauthammer's Obama Underappreciation Syndrome") "[t]he electorate apparently is deranged by its anxieties and fears to the point where it can’t think straight. Part of the reason 'facts and science and argument does not seem to be winning the day all the time,' he explained to a Massachusetts audience, 'is because we’re hard-wired not to always think clearly when we’re scared. And the country is scared.'

"Opening a whole new branch of cognitive science — liberal psychology — Obama has discovered a new principle: The fearful brain is hard-wired to act befuddled, i.e., to vote Republican."

[...]

"Dr. Obama diagnoses a heretofore undiscovered psychological derangement: anxiety-induced Obama Underappreciation Syndrome, wherein an entire population is so addled by its economic anxieties as to be neurologically incapable of appreciating the 'facts and science' undergirding Obamacare and the other blessings their president has bestowed upon them from on high."

Not to worry though. Obama now seems to be saying that he's going to cut through our unreasoning, fear-addled, bigoted minds and patiently explain to us how this whole economic mess was the fault of "Bush's failed policies" and how he absolutely had to sign a $787 billion pork-laden, political payout to stimulate jobs (it worked! Right?!) and make sure that unemployment wouldn't rise above 8%. Remember, White House projections said that without the stimulus, unemployment could reach 9%...

Obama would have us all believe, without a doubt, that unemployment is solely the fault of Republicans. Earlier this month Obama said (video available here): "There are three million Americans who would not be working today if not for the economic plan Joe and I put in place. That’s the truth... The hole we’re climbing out of is so deep. The Republicans messed up so bad, left uh... left uh... such a big mess, that there is still millions of Americans without work."

Obama would have us all believe that he and the Dems are responsible for nothing in the past two years except the "success" of ObamaCare and the stimulus. Not only that, but we're also too unemployed, gun clingy and bigoted... uh wait... no... we're all too frightened and can't think straight enough to understand his clear-thinking "facts and science and argument." Right.

This pompous elitism is just too difficult to take. Two years is enough. It has to end. Send a message. Vote.

And then do not forget that the tsunami of taxes that will hit us all in 2011 was not the fault of the 2011 Congress. I guarantee Obama will make that claim. No more "just words" i.e. lies. No more uninformed, pretend science blaming our hard-wired, neurological responses to fear.

Most of all, no more complacency from us, the voters-- no more of our uncritical trust in the media. Not this next year, nor in 2012, nor ever again. We have the internet, access to countless sources of information, and we have our critical and discerning minds. A socialist democracy will not be laid out in this country by accident, nor in secret, nor without our uninterested and tacit consent.

Douglas MacArthur once said "No man is entitled to the blessings of freedom unless he be vigilant in its preservation."

How right he is.

Amazing: 60 Minutes Reports Unemployed and Underemployed at 17.5%

CBS' "60 Minutes" reported the stark figure that the national rate of unemployment/underemployment is currently 17.5%. Even worse California's percentage is reported at 22%. All this reported a week before the election.

Via Larry O'Connor at BigGovernment.com (video report there):

"To put a face on the realities of the underemployed in America under Obamanomincs, reporter Scott Pelley spoke with a fiber-optics engineering manager who has been looking for work for over a year. He just took a job working at a Target. 20% of the unemployed in America have college degrees.

"According to the report, 1/3 of the unemployed have been out of work for over a year. This hasn’t happened since the Great Depression."

Is there really such a thing as a "jobless recovery," or is that just part of a prolonged problem?

Newsweek Claims Obama Numbers "Jumped Substantially" While Gallup Notes New Lows for Obama

More proof that Newsweek now has less worth than the Sears Catalog did in the 1890s.

"Despite doom-saying about Democrats’ chances in the midterms, the latest NEWSWEEK Poll (full results) shows that they remain in a close race with Republicans 12 days before Election Day, while the president’s approval ratings have climbed sharply." [...] "President Obama’s approval ratings have jumped substantially, crossing the magic halfway threshold to 54 percent, up from 48 percent in late September, while the portion of respondents who disapprove of the president dropped to 40 percent, the lowest disapproval rating in a NEWSWEEK Poll since February 2010."

Right... And that's why Gallup's most recent poll, reported on Oct. 21, shows Obama's approval ratings steadily decreasing to an all new low.

"Barack Obama averaged 44.7% job approval during the seventh quarter of his presidency. His average approval rating has declined each quarter since he took office, falling by more than two percentage points in the most recent quarter to establish a new low.

"These results are based on Gallup Daily tracking surveys conducted from July 20-Oct. 19, including interviews with more than 90,000 Americans. The seventh quarter included Obama's new low three-day average approval rating of 41% in mid-August. His approval rating has recovered somewhat since then, with his latest three-day average at 46% for Oct. 17-19 interviewing.

[...]

"Obama's decreased popularity is also evident in his favorable rating, updated in an Oct. 14-17 Gallup poll. For the first time, more Americans view the president unfavorably (50%) than favorably (47%), and his favorable rating is the lowest of his presidency.

[...]

"The Oct. 14-17 Gallup poll also finds that, at this point in his presidency, 39% of Americans believe Obama deserves re-election and 54% say he does not. Earlier this year, between 46% and 48% of Americans said Obama should be re-elected."

Newsweek is more pathetic then Nancy Pelosi-- I mean at least it's her job to look confident even in the face of a Republican takeover of the House. But Newsweek (as the name implies) is supposed to be a news magazine.

Epic failure Newsweek. No one believes you. And a special "are you kidding me!?" award to MSN.com for prominently featuring Newsweek's partisan fantasy (top billing in their news section) on their homepage.

Violence Erupts in Naples, Italy Over Trash Problems

From the Reuters article by Silvia Aloisi:

"At least 20 police officers were injured on Thursday and there was further violence overnight as the chronic problem of waste disposal in Italy's third largest city flared into violence for another night.

"Hundreds of tonnes of garbage lie uncollected in the streets after a dispute erupted over a new dump near the town of Terzigno, near Naples, where the existing facility is full and where residents complain about the stench and toxic waste.

[...]

"Overnight, police confronted around 2,000 demonstrators, who threw stones, marbles and firecrackers and used tree trunks to block access to a dump near Terzigno, located in a national park at the foot of Mount Vesuvius.

"Headlines on Friday were dominated by the violence, which media reports compared to a 'guerrilla war.'

"But the clashes were only the latest episode in a crisis that has persisted for years and which in 2008 prompted the then newly elected Berlusconi to declare a national disaster.

"Organised crime interests have been deeply entwined with rubbish collection in Naples for many years. But the problem has been aggravated by inefficiency, political opportunism and unscrupulous business operators.

[...]

"Local authorities say a dispute with a waste contractor has aggravated recent problems and individual local authorities have refused to take waste overflows from neighbouring areas, heightening the sense of frustration.

"The anger of Terzigno residents has been compounded by repeated changes of policy, with plans for a new dump announced, cancelled and then re-confirmed on different occasions, while concerns over health have grown."

Don't worry though. Brussels will save the day.

"In Brussels, a spokesman for the European Commission, which has taken legal action to force Italy to solve the crisis, said it was studying the response it had received from Rome.

"'The infringement procedures are ongoing,' spokesman Joe Hennon told journalists. 'Italian authorities need to draw up a plan to manage rubbish in the region.'"

Thank you, Dr. Obvious... er uh, Joe Hennon.

Desperate and Illegal: University Sends Out E-mail Urging Students and Staff to Vote for Dems

From the Winston-Salem Journal article by Wesley Young (via Drudge):

"Some 6,400 staffers and students at Winston-Salem State University received e-mail exhortations Monday to take advantage of early voting and help the Democratic Party, setting off local Republicans.

"After a complaint by Nathan Tabor, the chairman of the Forsyth County GOP, university officials acknowledged that the e-mail — sent from the student-affairs division — was improper.

"The university cited a state law that prohibits the use of a state employee’s authority or state property to support or oppose a person or an issue in any election.

[...]

"The university said it would try to discover who sent out the e-mail and whether it was sent intentionally or accidentally in a partisan form."

LOL. I love that last line. School officials will get right on the case to determine if somebody "accidentally" sent out a partisan e-mail. The only accident that happened there was that the GOP stumbled upon the e-mail so quickly.

I wish the article had printed the e-mail... probably fear-mongering at its finest.

NPR Fires Juan Williams Over Comments made on FOX

"NPR has terminated its contract with Juan Williams, one of its senior news analysts, after he made comments about Muslims on the Fox News Channel.

"NPR said in a statement that it gave Mr. Williams notice of his termination on Wednesday night.

"The move came after Mr. Williams, who is also a Fox News political analyst, appeared on the 'The O’Reilly Factor' on Monday. On the show, the host, Bill O’Reilly, asked him to respond to the notion that the United States was facing a 'Muslim dilemma.' Mr. O’Reilly said, 'The cold truth is that in the world today jihad, aided and abetted by some Muslim nations, is the biggest threat on the planet.'

"Mr. Williams said he concurred with Mr. O’Reilly.

"He continued: 'I mean, look, Bill, I’m not a bigot. You know the kind of books I’ve written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous.'

"Mr. Williams also made reference to the Pakistani immigrant who pleaded guilty this month to trying to plant a car bomb in Times Square. 'He said the war with Muslims, America’s war is just beginning, first drop of blood. I don’t think there’s any way to get away from these facts,' Mr. Williams said.

"NPR said in its statement that the remarks 'were inconsistent with our editorial standards and practices, and undermined his credibility as a news analyst with NPR.'

[...]

"Mr. Williams’s contributions on Fox raised eyebrows at NPR in the past. In February 2009, NPR said it had asked that he stop being identified on 'The O’Reilly Factor' as a 'senior correspondent for NPR,' even though that title was accurate."

Apparently believing that some Muslims are a threat to the U.S. is a firing offense at NPR. However, Sarah Spitz wishing death upon Rush Limbaugh is not a firing offense at NPR. Go figure.

Yup, NPR. Your tax dollars at work-- as Malkin notes.

Donald Douglas at American Power has a clip of the comments that earned Williams' dismissal.

Quite a Change Here (But Little Hope)

After declaring that Americans are ignorant, angry and afraid, Obama wheeled out that top big gun expression. Quite a change from the past Obama halo imagery... I wonder what exactly has changed in the past two years?

Swiss Suicide Clinic Advocates Suicide for Victims' Healthy Relatives Too

Ah, yes... Why can't America's health care be more like Europe?

From an article in the UK's Daily Mail Online:

"Swiss suicide clinic Dignitas has called for the healthy partners of chronically ill euthanasia patients to be allowed to kill themselves too.

"Clinic head Ludwig Minelli has called for suicide drug cocktails to be made legally available to the heartbroken relatives who have just helped their loved ones end their own lives.

"'Relatives should also be allowed to have a prescription for suicide drugs even when they are not terminally ill,' Minelli told Swiss newspaper Blick Sonntag.

"The family suicide kits would be illegal under current Swiss law where assisted euthanasia is only legal for those suffering from terminal illness of incurable chronic medical conditions.
Minelli was virtually penniless when he founded the Swiss firm 12 years ago but was worth more than £1million by 2007, according to an investigation.

"Although assisted suicide is legal in Switzerland, it is against the law to profit financially from someone’s death."

I guess the theory is that it's okay to indulge in behavior most people would consider immoral as long as there's no profit (the true evil) in it. How progressive... And gosh, it's nice to see that these million dollar clinics aren't profiting from their suicide business.

Russia Helping Venezuela Go Nuclear

From the Reuters article by Guy Faulconbridge:

"Russia agreed on Friday to build Venezuela's first nuclear power station after talks between Presidents Dmitry Medvedev and Hugo Chavez in the Kremlin.

"Russian nuclear agency chief Sergei Kiriyenko and Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro signed a deal on 'the construction and use of an atomic power station on the territory of Venezuela,' after the talks.

[...]

"Medvedev hinted that Chavez's foe, the United States, might not like the deal, but said that it was peaceful.

"'A deal in the atomic sphere has just been signed. I already know that it will make someone shudder. The president (of Venezuela) told me that there will states who will have different types of emotions about this,' Medvedev said.

"'I would like to underline that our intentions are clean and open: we want our partner the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to have the full range of energy choices, to have energy independence,' he said."

Gee, this sounds an awful lot like what Iran has been saying as they developed their nuclear capabilities. Coincidence?

But don't worry, anyone. Remember that back on 5/19/2008 in Oregon, Obama declared that "Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, these countries are tiny compared to the Soviet Union. They don't pose a serious threat to us the way the Soviet Union posed a threat to us. [...] If Iran [and presumably Venezuela] ever tried to pose a serious threat to us, they wouldn’t stand a chance."

Well, I feel better knowing that Obama thinks that way about Venezuela and Iran, etc., and that the he's confident that the U.S. can absorb a terrorist attack.

Let us all breathe a deep sigh of relief.

Jewish Republican Candidate Katz's Signs Painted with Anti-Semitic Slurs

On Oct. 7th, Portland ME local station WGME reported that Republican senatorial candidate Roger Katz's campaign signs were painted with anti-Semitic slurs. The words "Jew Pig" and "Jew ZOG" (ZOG standing for Zionist Occupation Government or Zionist Overlord Government, an acronym often used by neo-Nazis) had been scrawled over his "Katz Senate" signs. The entire entry on their website reads:

"Maine's Attorney General's Office is investigating the discovery of anti-Semitic messages on the campaign sign of a legislative candidate.

"Roger Katz, who was the target of the messages, says it serves as a reminder that prejudice is still alive. But he says it doesn't represent the sentiment of most people in the community."

The MSM seems absolutely silent on the matter. A Google search for "Roger Katz signs" "Roger Katz + anti-Semitism" and "Roger Katz + nazi" "Roger Katz + signs defaced" revealed that a handful of bloggers (the bigger ones being Gateway Pundit [where I saw the story today], Left Coast Rebel [who ran a similar search], Riehl World View) reported the story. Right Wing News seems to have addressed this story recently (today Oct.13th).

Among the MSM only myfoxmaine.com (not really a news stataion according to Obama and Dems), obviously in addition to WGME, has reported the story. Interestingly, WLTX in Columbia, South Carolina linked to the Riehl World View entry. Other than that, the MSM is mum according to these searches.

Can you imagine the outcry had Roger Katz had a "D" by his name?

Typical "mascot politics." Racism is only a story when it can be spun to hurt mainstream conservatives, not when perpetrated by a few fringe-dwelling neo-nazis against a Republican candidate.

Obama: "Republicans messed up so bad... that there is still millions of Americans without work"

Geez... Here's the full quote from Obama at a rally (video available here): "There are three million Americans who would not be working today if not for the economic plan Joe and I put in place. That’s the truth... The hole we’re climbing out of is so deep. The Republicans messed up so bad, left uh... left uh... such a big mess, that there is still millions of Americans without work."

Yeah, this doesn't sound desperate or anything... Exactly when did the Republicans last control Congress? And exactly how did the Republicans destroy the economy? By backing up high risk loans and creating a falsely high property values with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? Oh wait, no they didn't.

Does anyone but the hardcore Obamanots still believe anything this guy says? Anybody? Bueller?

Keeping it Classy: Brown Camp Refers to Whitman as a "Whore"

Ah, California... It seems that I'm that reminded about twice a week as to why I left.

"In a private conversation inadvertently captured by voicemail, Democratic gubernatorial nominee Jerry Brown or one of his associates can be heard referring to his Republican opponent Meg Whitman as a 'whore,' saying she cut a deal protecting law enforcement pensions while the two candidates competed for police endorsements.

"The comment came after Brown called the Los Angeles Police Protective League in early September to ask for its endorsement. He left a voicemail asking Scott Rate, a union official, to call him, then apparently believed he had hung up the phone. The voicemail captured the ensuing conversation between Brown and his aides.

"With frustration, Brown discussed the pressure he was under from police unions to pledge not to reduce public safety pensions. Months earlier, Whitman agreed to exempt public safety workers from part of her pension reform plan: the bid to enroll new government workers in 401(k)-style plans instead of pensions.

"'Do we want to put an ad out? … That I have been warned if I crack down on pensions, I will be — that they'll go to Whitman, and that's where they'll go because they know Whitman will give 'em, will cut them a deal, but I won't,' Brown said.

"At that point, a voice — either that of Brown or a second person — can be heard saying: "What about saying she's a whore?'

"'Well, I'm going to use that,' Brown says. 'It proves you've cut a secret deal to protect the pensions.'"

Nice. It's good to see Brown is going to use that whore tactic. Of course It wasn't that long ago that Brown compared Whitman Nazi Minister of Propaganda Joseph Goebbels.

Keep on keeping it classy Jerry... But hey, it's the Tea Partiers and the Republicans that are angry and uncivil in politics, right?
