Tweets are coming in reporting of the Egyptian military moving toward presidential grounds in armored personnel carriers (APCs). Twitter feed here at Leagl Insurrection.
If true, this doesn't bode too well for Morsi nor, in the long term, for Syrian rebels.
Will update with links to story/post if I can find it.
UPDATE: BBC reports:
President Mohammed Morsi has repeated his offer of a consensus government, but still refuses to step down.
A spokesman for the Muslim Brotherhood, to which Mr Morsi belongs, tweeted that a "full military coup" was under way.
As the army deadline passed, cheers echoed in Cairo's Tahrir Square, where thousands of protesters had gathered.
BBC correspondents have reported an increased military presence in the capital and armoured vehicles have been seen moving through the streets.
The army had earlier held meetings with political and religious leaders to discuss the crisis.
Of course it is only the Muslim Brotherhood saying it right now-- hardly the most reliable source.
UPDATE 2: Pic of Egyptian APC reportedly moving toward presidential grounds:
And outside presidential palace:
More APCs
